Dear ones.... We want to bring you up to date on something that we both feel the Lord asking us to do, something that we are in the process of doing. For 6 weeks now we have been taking classes through KVC (Kaw Valley Center), the organization that handles the great majority of the foster care/adoptions for the state of Kansas.... and, sometime in January (it looks like - give or take a month), we will be lisenced as a foster home in the state of KS. We will be lisenced to take up to 2 children ages 0 - 8.... and we plan to adopt if and when God gives us that opportunity. We are super excited as we walk into this.... and yet we know that, despite all of our training and planning and preparation, there is no way that we can be fully ready for what we are taking on. There is no way to predict who the child(ren) that God will place in our home will be, what their needs will be, what their personalities will be like.... And so we are leaning on Jesus for strength and courage, and encountering Him in sweet ways as we prepare to lay our life down for His precious ones in this way. Stan and I believe God will bless us, protect our hearts, bring healing and stability and His love into the lives of little ones, and draw us deeper into one another and into Himself as we embrace what He has for us on this journey.... As you think of us, please be praying that God will prepare our hearts and the hearts of the kiddos He will bring our way. We love you all and thank you for your support, friendship, and prayers.... And as we move into this season of our lives, we want to reaffirm how much WE NEED YOU in our lives. We are very aware that we cannot do what we feel called to do alone, that we need our family, church family, and friends to be "on our side." Soooo, thank you for your love, and for being a part of this journey with us.

Yay! That is so exciting!! Being a public school teacher, I see first-hand the influence a good home and family has on a child. I will be praying for you and Stan as you embark on this HUGE adventure. Kids need good parents/influences..believe me, there are way too many kids (foster, adopted, and biological) that are so broken and in need of healing.
Woo-hoo! I'm so excited for you guys! What a blessing you will be in the lives of these little ones--no matter how long you will be in their lives.
Hey guys- I think that is really great. As a former foster child, I could have only dreamed of having parents like you guys! I know God will bless this because His word says so. Richest blessings to your family as you take this on! :) miss you guys!
Wow! That is amazing! You had once told me that you knew you would adopt children someday, but I had no idea that God has been calling you into foster parenting as well. Amazing! God be with you, and may you be richly rewarded.
Wow that is really exciting!!! I think you guys will do amazing! :) Mom says if you guys get a baby their first word will be "mer"! :) I'll be praying for you guys!
You guys are awesome. Any kid that gets to be a part of your lives will be one extremely fortunate child. We'll be praying. :)
that is awesome! Nothing (at. all.) can ever prepare you for parenthood, no matter how you go about it. :) I'm glad you are in the position to do this - there are so many kids that need good homes and you will be in our prayers as you venture on this endeavor!
