URGENT: San Francisco Riot 2 Nights Ago

Dear ones,

You need to know about this. I learned of this tonight watching IHOP's (International House of Prayer in Kansas City) live webcast from their evening service. They had a girl, probably in her early 20's, one of the Christians who were worshiping Jesus - a small group of young people who have been worshiping in the streets of this area of San Francisco for 3 years and have never encountered resistance like this - share about what happened Friday night in San Francisco. This is real stuff, guys. Incredibly sobering. Read this. This is a brief account I copied from this blog: http://prophetsflow.blogspot.com/2008/11/gays-riot-during-christian-worship-in.html

"Last Friday Nov. 14th 2008, while a group of 13 Christians worshiped Jesus on a street corner in the Castro District, San Francisco, scores of angry gays surrounded them with cries of hate and physically attacked them. Swat team forces had to be called out to protect the Christians from further injury amid the cries of promises to kill them. Some were saying "We'll follow you home, we know where you go to church." Some angry gays were taking photos of the Christians to identify them later.

News sources say that both groups were confronting each other but the Christians never preached to anyone. They were focused on worshiping Jesus.

One girls Bible was taken away and when she asked for it back, she was hit in the head with it, pushed to the ground and kicked. Many shouted that they were going to kill them."

Again, the Christians were not speaking to anyone, only worshiping."

According to the girl who spoke tonight at the House of Prayer here in KC, the trouble began when, after she and her friends had begun worshiping Jesus with their guitar(s?) a man approached them and accused them of hating him, of hating gays, etc. She said, "No, we love you, and we love God...." They went back and forth like this.... she continued to say, "No, we love you; we love God...." Then the crowd began to form and what you read above took place. Violence against them included having hot coffee poured over their bodies, the one girl who was knocked to the ground and kicked, having whistles blown directly into their ears. Through it all, they kept singing to Jesus.

The media says, "Christians and gays "confronted" each other." This is simply not the case. The Christian young people confronted no one. They were simply loving Jesus on the streets of the Castro District. They ended up having to be escorted out of the area by a number of police officers. They are confident that they would not have survived otherwise. Literally.
The mob wanted to kill them. The gal who spoke tonight said that she was preparing her heart for martyrdom.

Here is a link to a news video that shows the rioters and the police escorting the Christian young people out of the Castro District. If your kiddos are around, you may not want them to hear this. There are a few curse words. Watch this so you will know the reality and the gravity of the situation in our nation.

In California, in response to prop. 8 passing, churches are being graffitied with Nazi symbols; pastors' lives are being threatened; and apparently, something has given way in the spirit realm to the point that the resistance and rage that were merely an undercurrent before, are now not so subtle anymore, to put it mildly.

How do we respond to this? Press into Jesus, KNOW Him, KNOW His Word, and pray. Pray for the Christians and churches in California. Pray for protection, courage, for truth to come forth boldly, with a spirit of LOVE, not hate or fear. The gay and lesbian community is so accustomed to feeling hatred from "Christians." Pray that God will open their eyes and hearts to experience His LOVE and healing. Pray that He will turn the hearts of those in government on City, State, and National levels. Pray that He'll open their eyes to the truth of His Word. Ask Jesus for a spirit of repentance to fall on our nation.
Pray for His mercy.

2 Chronicals 7: 14 ~ "if my people, who are called
by my name, will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and will
forgive their sin and will heal their land."
