Another Tali Update....

Okay, went to the hearing today. As of yesterday, based on my conversations with the gal that I know who's the Court Services Officer (CSO), I was completely under the impression that we were DEFINITELY going to be releasing Tali to her mom, either today, or in just a couple of weeks. Well, I got home from the hearing about 30 minutes ago, and I still have this sweet little girl hanging out beside me on the couch... :)

Yesterday Stan and I had gotten all "emotionally prepared" to let her go.... So this morning I was feeling okay about things, sad of course, but really trusting the Lord. So I walk into court this morning, and my CSO friend pulls me and our Family Services Coordinator aside and says, "She's not going ANYwhere...." Apparently mom has some legal issues in MO that are very much UNresolved, and that was my friend's thinking as to why Tali would need to remain in custody for longer than she had previously thought. In the actual hearing, those legal issues weren't discussed, though.... What WAS discussed was how the District Attorney (DA) and her assistant have made call after call to the MO side to try to get them to take over Tali's case, and how MO won't return their phone calls. The judge basically said that as long as MO is not opening up a case on her, that he doesn't feel comfortable dismissing her case because there would be no supervision (no caseworker following up on Tali's well-being after she's with her mom) if he did. So for now, she stays in KS state custody....and in our home. Her case is now set for trial on January 30th to determine whether she is a "child in need of care" or not - - meaning, whether she needs to remain in custody or not. This trial will take place ONLY if the state of MO has not taken over her case by then....which the KS DA will continue to try to pursue, I think. Until that happens, she's in our home.

And THAT, dear friends, is the latest news. We've got her for now..... Keep praying for God to have His way and for His BEST plan for her life to be accomplished. Someone shared the verse from Psalms with me that says, "The Lord will accomplish what concerns me." It's true. And He will accomplish what concerns our Tali-girl. :) We are believing that He is who He says He is in HER life.

Thanks for your prayers, love, support....just for walking beside us through all of this. We are doing well in our hearts and we know it's because people are praying. It feels like God is "cushioning" our hearts....He is carrying us through all of this... So again, thanks so much for praying.

We love you all and will continue to keep you posted.
